A beautiful war

'' A beautiful war--For women who -had to or have to- give up their dreams for others early in life and later regret it''

We sleep walked our desires
Cuddled them in rocking cradles of deep winding sleep

we walked away
we walked away

into never ending dwindling paths of self loss
we could only only carry a pinch of ambition
just enough to raise our children
and our big children
whose dreams never needed a war to flourish in God's given righteous freedom

how sad our curious eyes
watched the world
as we saw the fleeting bullets gunned, drive cold paralyzing stings in the heart of our dreams once so full of life
killing us
with passing time
and the bleeding away of our once strong star reaching dreams

Annah,Hannah,Sarah
You walked away
You walked away

the children we carried
stalled our walk to freedom
as we gave up the haste, the hurry, the rush
for the ones that came
one after the other

but our dreams were trees growing in cemeteries
sprouting among the dead
whispering come back,come back
before our wanting eyes
our beautiful wanting eyes
gunned down by bullets
of self sacrifice
responsibility
strangling mother tittles
that suffocated us for others

and we turned our backs
to whoever called us back

we walked away
we walked away
